Investor read
Bodycote entered 2026 with improving momentum after a weak 2025 revenue year. Core revenue grew 9.0% at constant currency in the first four months of 2026, led by Specialist Technologies and strong aerospace, defense and industrial-gas-turbine demand. Plant exits under the Optimise programme limited reported group growth to 1.9%.
AM is not a separately reported earnings stream. The relevant thesis is that more cast, powder-metallurgy and additively manufactured parts require HIP, heat treatment, coatings and accredited process capacity. Bodycote can capture that demand without taking printer-development risk.
A potential Apollo transaction ended on 5 June 2026 without a firm offer. The operating thesis therefore returns to organic execution, capacity investment and margin improvement.

Business model and earnings drivers
Precision Heat Treatment
Local furnaces perform hardening, carburising, nitriding, brazing, solution treatment and other processes close to customer factories. The business benefits from qualification, logistics and service reliability, but remains exposed to general industrial and automotive volumes.
Specialist Technologies
Specialist Technologies includes HIP, surface technologies and other differentiated metallurgy processes. This platform has higher barriers to entry, more aerospace and defense exposure and stronger structural growth than conventional heat treatment.
Optimise, Perform and Grow
Bodycote is exiting non-core plants, transferring revenue to stronger sites and investing in growth capacity. By the May update, 21 of 31 non-core facilities had been exited and another three had ceased operations. Execution must preserve customers while improving utilization and margins.
Capacity expansion
In July 2026 Bodycote announced multi-million-euro European investments in HIP and powder-metallurgy capacity, including two additional HIP vessels at Haag-Winden in Germany. The expansion targets aerospace and defense throughput and supply-chain resilience.
