Jack Upton
Mechanical Engineer, Additive Manufacuring Expert
About
I’m a 40-year-old mechanical engineer from the UK with a passion for additive manufacturing. With over 15 years of experience in the field, I have been at the forefront of the industry, witnessing its evolution from its early beginnings to the incredible technology it is today.
After obtaining my mechanical engineering degree, I started my career in a traditional manufacturing company, where I worked on projects ranging from automotive parts to aerospace components. However, it was during this time that I first encountered 3D printing and realized its immense potential.
Intrigued by this revolutionary technology, I began researching and experimenting with additive manufacturing in my free time. Soon, my passion for 3D printing grew, and I decided to make a career change to focus exclusively on this exciting new field.
Over the years, I have worked with various 3D printing technologies and have gained expertise in a wide range of applications, including prototyping, tooling, and end-use parts. My knowledge and experience in this field have led me to become a sought-after consultant, and I have helped many small businesses and startups incorporate additive manufacturing into their production processes.
In addition to consulting, I have also been actively involved in promoting and educating people about 3D printing. I started blogging about the technology on my personal website, which later evolved into my current blog, addithive.com. Through my blog, I share my knowledge and insights with readers from all over the world, providing in-depth analysis of the latest trends and innovations in additive manufacturing.
My passion for 3D printing has also led me to participate in various industry events, where I have given talks and presentations on the benefits and applications of this technology. I have also published articles in leading industry publications, sharing my views and expertise with a wider audience.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking and spending time with my family. I also love tinkering with 3D printers, experimenting with new materials and designs, and pushing the limits of what is possible with this incredible technology.
In conclusion, my journey into additive manufacturing has been a long and rewarding one. I am proud to be a part of this rapidly evolving industry and am excited to see what the future holds. Through my blog and other endeavors, I hope to continue promoting the benefits and possibilities of 3D printing to people from all walks of life.
