This update covers five primary-source signals dated 21 to 23 October 2026: third-quarter results from Lockheed Martin and Carpenter Technology, an EXIM loan for Titomic’s U.S. cold-spray capacity, AML3D’s September quarter, and confirmation that Amaero issued its U.S. IPO shares. All five companies are tracked in the Addithive Company Database.
Earnings read
Lockheed Martin: backlog reaches a record $292.0 billion; 2026 guidance raised
On 22 October 2026 Lockheed Martin reported third-quarter sales of $20.7 billion, up 11% from $18.6 billion, and free cash flow of $3.0 billion. Backlog rose 27% from the second quarter to a record $292.0 billion, including $52.5 billion tied to the multi-year PAC-3 MSE interceptor award. Segment operating profit rose $200 million on munition ramps at Missiles and Fire Control and higher Aeronautics volume. The company raised 2026 guidance to sales of about $80.0–82.0 billion (prior $79.75–81.75 billion) and free cash flow of about $7.8–8.0 billion (prior $7.0–7.2 billion).
Why it matters: a munitions-led backlog is where castings, forgings and long-lead propulsion parts constrain rate. That is the case for LPBF inside Missiles and Fire Control. The release does not quantify AM. See our Lockheed Martin profile.

Carpenter Technology: record first-quarter operating income; FY2027 outlook held
On 22 October 2026 Carpenter reported fiscal first-quarter (to 30 September 2026) net sales of $798.2 million and operating income of $196.4 million, up 28% year on year and down 5% sequentially after planned maintenance downtime. Specialty Alloys Operations earned $216.3 million at a 37.7% adjusted margin. Aerospace structural and distribution bookings rose 23% sequentially and 49% year on year. Free cash flow was negative $24.8 million. Guidance: second-quarter operating income of $192–197 million; FY2027 operating income held at $850–880 million; the FY2029 target of $1.2–1.3 billion is unchanged.
Why it matters: aerospace alloy demand and pricing, not AM powder, still drive the numbers. Rising bookings can tighten the same melt capacity that feeds qualified powder. See our Carpenter Technology profile.
